Mary Gardner
Mary Ruth Gardner passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at St. Mary’s General Hospital at 57 years of age.Mary was the beloved wife and best friend of Barry, and the loved daughter of Ruth Jardine and the late Ken Jardine. Dear sister to Sherry Reavie, the late Rick Jardine, Brian Jardine and the late Brenda Schiestel. Mary was loved and best friend of mother-in-law Joyce Gardner and the late Ivan Gardner and will be missed by brother-in-law Rick Gardner.
Mary fought a courageous battle against MS for 31 years and the last 10 months against cancer. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and especially me. Until we meet again, I love you very much!
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Westmount Funeral Chapel (1001 Ottawa St. 519-743-8900). Special thanks to all the staff on the 7th floor at St. Mary’s General Hospital. They all went above and beyond to make Mary’s last days very peaceful.

Arnold MacDonald
Surrounded by family, Arnold MacDonald of Teeswater passed away peacefully at Wingham & District Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at the age of 88.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (McPherson), his daughters Lois (Bob) Thompson of Kinburn and Heather (Kevin) Brighton of Guelph, and his daughter-in-law Gail MacDonald of Guelph.
Arnold will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Andrew, Laura, Christopher, Hilary, Brock and Victoria and his great-grandsons Zaq and Jeremy.
Arnold will also be missed by his sister Vina Kellie of London and his brother Lloyd (Mildred) McDonald of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his infant daughter Linda (1950), son Larry (2006) and siblings Barthold, Phronie, Eugene, Jack, Ken and Grace.
Arnold MacDonald was born in Culross Township on Dec. 3, 1923 to the late Alexander and Annie (Waugh) MacDonald. Arnold lived in Guelph for many years before returning to Teeswater in 2001. Arnold was a talented woodworker, enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time with family. Arnold was active in the community and a member of the Teeswater Lions Club.
Visitation was held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with the funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Michael Rundle officiated.
Pallbearers were nephews Stan Elliot, Rick McDonald, Randy McDonald, Brian McDonald, John Kellie and Scott McDonald. Spring interment in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Marie Fortney
At Wingham & District Hospital on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, Mrs. Mary Lorina “Marie” Fortney of Wingham, formerly of Mildmay, age 90 years.
Beloved wife of the late Leo Fortney, who predeceased her in 2001. Dear mother of Bill and Bernice Fortney of Elmwood, Bob and Kathy Fortney of Dunnville, Joan Kieffer of Hamilton, Jeanette and Francis Williams of Kitchener, Jackie and Doug McBurney of Wingham, Leona and Rick Weishar of RR 4 Listowel, and Lee and Teresa Fortney of Guelph.
Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Monica Grubb of Cambridge, Theresa and Ernie Atkins of Chicago and sister-in-law Rita Fortney of Neustadt.
Predeceased by her son-in-law Rodger Kieffer, infant twins John and Mary Fortney, six sisters and three brothers.
Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Sunday, Jan. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Family prayers were held in the funeral home on Sunday at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Wingham on Monday, Jan. 9 at 11 am. Father John Van Damme officiated. Interment in Formosa Cemetery, Formosa.
