5-3 win for Wingham Midgets

On Jan. 12, the Wingham Midget local league team hosted Kincardine and came away with a 5-3 win.
Three minutes in, Christopher Franken scored with assists to Johnny Franken and Kendall Vander Veer and halfway through the period, Ben Underwood scored after receiving a pass from Sunday Sulter.
With 12 seconds left in the period Johhny Franken scored, with assists to Matt Shubat and Kyle Machon.
Just over two minutes into the second period, Shawn Willits scored, with assists to Underwood and Dalton Delise.
Wingham’s fifth and final goal was scored by Johnny Franken assisted by Christopher Franken and Vander Veer, before Kincardine scored to goals in the second.
On Jan. 14 Wingham travelled to Palmerston to play an exhibition game versus Minto.
With one man to spare, the Wingham parents were hoping the boys could get a good lead before the third against Minto’s 11 skaters, but Wingham and Matt Rozendal had other plans.
Wingham showed proper passing and team work in a 7-3 victory.
Holding Minto to one goal per period and scoring three in the first and two in the second and third, the boys played a very good game.
Goals came from Nick Chippa, Jesse Poels and Sunday Sulter with two each to Underwood and Johnny Franken.
Assists went to Shep Machan, Chippa, Jesse Poels, Sulter, Underwood, Christopher and Johnny Franken in a wonderful game to watch.
