Thacker, Donald Philip

Donald Thacker passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at the age of 49.
Dear son of the late Harold (1985) and Mary (2008 ) Thacker. Best friend and business partner of Duane Gauvin (Ela Smolarz) and his good buddy Andrew Gauvin. Dear brother of Anna Isabelle Thacker of London, Barb Jacklin of New Dundee, Bev Jackson (Budd) of New Dundee, Edward Thacker of Point Clarke, Brenda Kennedy of Teeswater and Cora Jane Thacker of Kitchener.
Predeceased by one sister Donna Thacker (1960 ).
Don will be missed by his devoted pet, Junior. Don was a former member of the K-W Big Brother Association and will missed by his little brother David.
Relatives and friends were invited to the Westmount Funeral Chapel, Kitchener on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service was held on Friday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Cremation followed. Reception followed at the funeral home.

Olwyn Mary Petteplace

Olwyn Mary (Sam) Petteplace of Teeswater passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at the age of 69.
Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on May 17, 1940 to the late Delmar and Beatrice (Peters) Foss.
Beloved wife of the late Gary (Chips) Petteplace (1994); dear mother of Anne Hill and her husband Paul of Southampton, Wendy MacDonald and her husband Dave of Teeswater, Rob Hall and his wife Linda of RR 3 Teeswater, and Frank Hall and his wife Debbie Hinton-Hall of London; and sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also survived by companion Frank Seldon of Hanover, her twin sister Olita McIvor and her husband Bob, and her brother Jim Foss, all of Cambridge.
Predeceased by her son Bill Reid (1977) and brothers Bill Foss and George Foss.
A private family funeral service was held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Wednesday, Feb. 10 with Rev. Douglas Kaufman officiating, followed by cremation. Spring interment in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.

Springer, David Russell

At Wingham and District Hospital on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, Mr. David Springer of RR 3 Wingham, age 65 years.
Beloved husband of Hope Springer (nee Johnson). Dear father of Tracy Metheral of Orangeville, Jeff Springer of Guelph, Kevin and Penny Springer of Gorrie, and Jayne and Jim Mullins of Listowel. Dear grandfather of Hunter, Kevin Jr., Shanae, Nicole, Erin and Rebekah.
Brother of Jim and Bev Springer of Lucknow, Chris Springer of Chesley, Jonathan Springer of Wiarton, Midge Springer of Kitchener, Jean and John Smith of Delhi, Edith and George Lowes of Burford and Mary Springer of Vancouver. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and Hope’s family.
Predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Springer.
Friends gathered at Whitechurch Community Hall, Whitechurch on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Pastor Betty Elliot officiated.

Ralph McCrea

Mr. Ralph McNeil McCrea of Blyth passed away at Clinton Public Hospital on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Amy (Smith) McCrea; loving father and father-in-law of Maureen and Brad Montgomery of Hullett Twp. and Douglas and Betty Jean McCrea of St. Thomas. Loved and sadly missed by his grandchildren Tabatha and Sean Kieffer, Bradley Montgomery and Shannon Moir, and Ryan Montgomery and Jessica Montgomery-Rains; and step-grandchildren Sandra and Paul Tatomir and Craig Ramonas. Also survived by his great-grandchildren Brady, Bryce and Keagan Kieffer and Madison Montgomery, and by step-great-grandchildren Damian and Alex Ramonas. Dear brother-in-law of Irene Lamont.
Predeceased by his sister Margaret McCrea and by brother-in-law Jim Lamont.
Ralph spent much of his working career as a carpenter with A. Manning Limited in Blyth. Ralph was a member of Blyth United Church and was a member and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Blyth Branch No. 420.
Friends were received on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Blyth Visitation Centre of Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., Blyth, where the funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Gary Clark of Blyth United Church officiated. Interment in Blyth Union Cemetery.
A memorial was held by the Royal Canadian Legion, Blyth Branch No. 420 on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m.
Flowerbearers were Brady and Bryce Kieffer. Pallbearers were Doug Howson, Dave Lee, Rick McBurney, John Stewart, Ken Stewart and Darrell Wood.
