Velda Douglas
Velda Margaret (Thornton) Douglas of Belmore and formerly of Teeswater passed away at the Fordwich Village Nursing Home, Fordwich on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the age of 91.
Born on Dec. 20, 1918 in Teeswater, Ontario, Velda was the only child of the late William and Edna (Stutt) Thornton.
Beloved wife of the late Andrew Douglas, who predeceased her in 1995. Dear mother of William Randell (Randy) Douglas and his wife Lorraine of Collingwood, Terry Douglas and his wife Jill of Renfrew and Karen Inglis and her husband Bob of Belmore. Sadly missed by eight grandchildren, Cole, Rebecca, Clinton, Luke and Braydon Douglas and Andrew, Alison and Wesley Inglis.
Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m., with the funeral service conducted in the chapel on Wednesday, July 21 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Hannah Lee officiating. During the service, remembrances were given by son Randy Douglas, friend Jim Meyer and son-in-law Bob Inglis. Grandson Cole Douglas was the soloist, accompanied by Rosemary Colvin.
Granddaughters Alison Inglis and Rebecca Douglas and grandson Luke Douglas carried floral tributes. Carrying Velda to her final place of rest in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery were grandsons Cole Douglas, Clinton Douglas, Andrew Inglis and Wesley Inglis, son-in-law Bob Inglis and neighbour and friend John Culliton.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Teeswater United Church appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
