The Wingham Peewee Rep team has finished their second round of playoffs, losing to Minto in the  fourth game. In the first game, Jan. 19, Minto came out fast scoring three quick goals. The boys fought back with Cam Hoskins, assisted by Dustin Robertson and Brady MacDonald, getting them on the board. Noah Young  scored the second goal on a rebound from Colton Dunn, and although they worked hard at the net and had lots of shots, Minto took this game 4-2.
Game two, Jan. 22 in Minto, ended in a 4-4 tie after 10 minutes of overtime, putting this series on a point system. Minto opened the scoring, but Les Irvine, assisted by Hoskins, tied it up a few minutes later. In the second period, Minto scored twice more, but goals by Dunn and Young, with MacDonald assisting on both, and Landon Anderson Johnstone assisting on Young’s, again evened out the score. Dunn then scored to go ahead. The team played great defensive hockey to stave off a five-on-three penalty kill for two minutes. However, Minto came back one more time.
In the third game at home, Jan. 26, Nesbitt, with Young on his wing streaking up the ice, put one in and then Robertson, assisted by Nesbitt, netted number two. Minto took this game 4-2.
In the fourth game on Jan. 27, the team came out hard with lots of shots on net, but had a hot Minto goalie to contend with. The first period remained scoreless. TJ Moores had a great defensive game, holding down the blue line and helping the team get on the board in the second period, with Nesbitt scoring from Robertson and MacDonald. Hunter Hemion put in his first goal of the season with a shot from the top of the circle, assisted by Jordan Pham. This fired the boys up, and Nesbitt, assisted by Pham, sent this game into overtime. The team put lots of shots on net, but could not break the tie that would have sent them to the next game. This game had to be won because of the point system. They now wait to see who they play in the round robin.
