On the evening of Saturday, Jan. 7, the Wingham Ironmen took on Walkerton, finishing the game with a score of 7-2 in their favour.
The team’s coach, Louie Livingston, attributes the victory to a “total team effort” from his players. This effort shone through in Friday night’s game against Hanover as well, which the Ironmen won 4-2.
The cutdown date for local teams, when they can have no more than 23 players, was Jan. 10. As of press time, the Ironmen had 25; information on which players were cut from the team will be in next week’s paper. There’ll be no changes to the roster for the final five games of the regular season.
Livingston say that the team’s recent victories against strong competitors were good confidence builders. He said they’ve been working hard and he plans to keep them working hard, gearing up for the playoffs.
In the game against Walkerton, Livingston said players who stood out were Aaron Armstrong with six assists, and Travis Donaldson with three goals.
