In the evening of Friday, Jan. 13, the Wingham Ironmen took on the Kincardine Bulldogs at 8:30 in Kincardine. The Bulldogs scored a goal in each of the three periods, while the Ironmen scored once in the second period, and twice in the third. The game ended in a shootout with a Kincardine victory, final score 4-3.
Team manager Louie Livingston says the Ironmen out-shot and out-played the Bulldogs, getting 56 shots on their net, while the Bulldogs only got 25. He attributed the Ironmen loss to the goaltending of the other team, and that they should have won in overtime. He says the Ironmen played well, but that the Bulldogs were a good team.
The Ironmen’s roster is now sitting at 22 players, the newest member being Steve Hutchison as player number three. The team has four games left in the regular season, and currently sits at fourth in the league. Livingston says the team wants to climb quickly, and that would mean winning all remaining games against strong teams. Their next game is against Mitchell, Friday, Jan. 20 – Wingham will have the home ice advantage.
