The Wingham Novice Rep team opened the playoffs Feb. 19 against a solid Teeswater team and after being down by four with less than a minute to play, the team managed two late goals to make the final 4-2 for Teeswater.
Scoring for Wingham were Brenden Gallaher and Connor Dickson, while assists went to Thomas Gangl, Josh Pham and Hayden Robinson.
The Novices bounced back less than 24 hours later in Wingham to defeat Teeswater 4-1 with an excellent team effort.
The defence showed great determination in spite of being shorthanded, with only three defencemen playing.
The forwards also helped out the defenders time and time again with their strong back checking.
Scoring for Wingham were Reece Houghton with two, Pham and Darby Kikkert each getting one, while assists went to Gallaher with three and Gangl, Robinson, Dickson, Kikkert and Houghton adding singles.
The next playoff games will be in Teeswater on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a Wingham date Saturday  at 1:45 p.m.
