The Wingham Hitmen hosted the Wroxeter Rippers for a Huron County League fastball game on July 13.
The Hitmen scored five runs in the first inning and held on for the victory.  Shortstop Devin Connor had another big night for the Hitmen, going two for three at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Ty Brown also had two RBIs and a run scored.
Rookie pitcher George Armstrong went the distance on the mound for the Hitmen, getting 10 strikeouts and earning the win for a final score of 6-1 for Wingham.
The win gives the Hitmen a 9-2 record for the year and remains in first place in the HCFL North Division.  The Hitmen host the Walton Brewers tonight (Wednesday) at Optimist Field.  Game time is 7:30 and good seats are still available.
The Hitmen also held their second annual fund raising co-ed slo-pitch tournament this past the weekend in Wingham.  Congratulations to tournament winners “Mixed Nuts” for the second year in a row.
The tournament was a huge success and a portion of the money earned will be donated to the Gallaher family.
